October 2009 – Diarna Featured in Slingshot ‘09 – ‘10
“While every organization running an innovative program talks about its technology, Diarna is doing something we’ve never seen before” — so begins Diarna’s entry in Slingshot ‘09-’10, a prestigious Zagat-style resource guide for Jewish innovation now in its fifth year. Slingshot showcases the top 50 organizations, leaders, and programs in North America that have taken an innovative approach to addressing age-old concerns of identity and community in Jewish life today.
Diarna, a first-time finalist and the youngest project in this year’s class, made the cut after an extensive evaluation process involving hundreds of nominees overseen by several dozen foundation professionals. Finalists are chosen based on their strength in four areas: innovation, impact, leadership, and organizational efficiency. “The due diligence and thoughtfulness that goes into the Slingshot process is incredibly helpful. If an organization is in Slingshot, we know that it has been vetted by professionals and colleagues whom we trust,” says Gail Cooks, executive director of the Rita J. and Stanley H. Kaplan Family Foundation. Will Schneider, Director of Slingshot, describes Diarna as “one of the most innovative projects to enter Slingshot’s radar this year.” Slingshot ‘09-’10 was unveiled on October 15th at the second annual Slingshot Day launch event in Manhattan.
